The Phillies take their seven game winning streak and hope to build on it as the second place Atlanta Braves come into town for a three game set. The Phillies magic number is now 10 and while they can’t totally lock up the division in this series, they could lock up the Wild Card and make it pretty tough for the Braves to make up the lost ground.
Just as important is the Phillies have most of their lineup back. Jimmy Rollins has been out for a week but Chase Utley is back in the lineup and it’s nice to see him in there with Ryan Howard and even Placido Polanco. In the playoffs, it’s going to come down to pitching but it’s nice seeing some of those big names back.
I think Charlie Manuel isn’t going to get the credit he deserves for Manager of the Year. The Phillies have been decimated by injuries and Manuel has been able to keep it together but the fact that he’s kept things together has been huge.
This is the last week of Phillies baseball at home so get your Phillies tickets while you can. Of course the only thing better then Phillies tickets is Phillies playoff tickets so there’s still some time to get to the ballpark.
