Eric Bruntlett is a serviceable shortstop at best. Lately he has been real quiet, which is better than when he had everybody talking about him for being terrible. Today he gets bumped back up to the second spot in the lineup. He can’t handle being there. The Phillies haven’t even batted yet and the pressure is getting to him. He has 1 error, but should have 2 on 2 very similar plays. 2 grounders up the middle where he got to the ball, and threw it in the dirt. The scorekeeper was generous to credit the first as a hit.
To add to Bruntlett’s horrible defense, Jayson Werth dropped a flyball in center. Luckily that play didn’t hurt us, but Bruntlett’s first gaff did. The next batter jacked a Moyer “fastball” to deep right field. We’re down 2-0 to start the game. Bruntlett better get a good at-bat here!

Okay, so he got a single and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. Works for me.

Tie game. Thank you Chase Utley. 2-run HR. Bruntlett scores on it.
