I’m Disappointed

by @ 3:18 pm. Filed under 2008 Phillies

So after what I wrote yesterday, Dusty Baker decided to sit Ken Griffey, Jr.  Luckily the game was not short on homeruns.  The Phillies homered three times while the Reds were only able to clear the fences twice.  Chase Utley hit his league leading 21st longball.  Pedro Feliz and Chris Coste each went deep in the 4th inning, with Feliz’s being a 2-run shot.  Jay Bruce hit yet another homerun in his young career.  He was called up last week and is already 2nd in the running for NL Rookie of the Year in my opinion.  Soto from Chicago is leading now, but it might not be long until Bruce catches him.

Kyle Kendrick picked up the win in the 5-4 game.  He pitched into the 6th inning before being knocked out.  He gave up all 4 runs before the bullpen pitched a scoreless rest of the game.  Chad Durbin, Tom Gordon, and Brad Lidge all pitched very well in order to preserve the 1-run lead they inherited.

I just looked and saw that Griffey is once again out of the lineup tonight!
