Phillies End Seven Game Skid Behind Ryan Madson’s Gem

by @ 6:04 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

This has been an ugly stretch.  The only consolation is that the Mets have struggled as well, not that we have much of a chance of catching them.

Things started out on a familiar note, and that was a rain out.  That meant two yesterday and the Phillies dropped both of them and neither were pretty.  I’d like to just ignore them if you don’t mind.

Sigh.

Today was the win though. Ryan Madson was one out short of a complete game shutout but Gordon came in and got the save.  Dave Delucci hit his fifth homerun of the season and drove in two.

Next up are the Blue Jays.  Alex Rios is out so that’ll help but this is a team that can score.  And just one quick comment on Bret Myers.  His actions were unfortunate on several levels and I’ll be interested to see how it all plays out.  Right now, he’s been dropped down to A ball, but that was just to free up a roster spot for another pitcher.

Hopefully this win can lead us somewhere. The Jays are a good team and if we can take 2-of-3 from them, we might be in “good” shape.
