In a very cool series at MiLB.com, the Phillies minor league system was reviewed based on some of the preseason thoughts. Quintin Berry and Josh Outman led the system with their bat and arm repsectively with Berry hitting .312 to go along with his 55 stolen bases. In the meantime, Outman was dominating at stints in both Clearwater and Reading.
Kyle Drabek, J.A. Happ and Carl Henry were all guys listed as not living up to their potential in 2007. There’s also a cool recap of the 2007 draft with aome comments on Phillies first round pick Joe Savery, who had a solid minor league debut as well as a productive Arizona Fall League. There’s a lot of stuff in here so be sure to check it out.

I’m praying to the baseball gods that Savery ends up being the real deal and is available at the big league level- like September of ‘08.
