Phillies Trade Andrew Baldwin and Andrew Barb to Mariners for Jamie Moyer

by @ 6:21 pm. Filed under 2006 Season

While I think this trade will help the Phillies, it’s a little shortsighted.  Just a few weeks ago, the front office game up our second best hitter and a front line starter for pretty much nothing outside of a salary dump.  Now we’re trading two of our prospects to try to make up for the loss of Lidle because all of a sudden, the Phillies are back in the mix.

Fortunately, neither of these guys are high end prospects so  I guess I can live with it.  Moyer will make his Phillies redebut on Tuesday.

I like the Moyer trade. He’ll at least give the Phils what Lidle did if not more. Mathieson wasn’t cutting it in the rotation, and is probably better suited for the bullpen in the long run anyway. This is the worst and best Wild Card race yet…figure that one out!
