Well Boston definitely responded in yesterday’s game.  When a game gets handed over to Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon with a lead to close out the last 2 innings of a game, things don’t look good for the opposition.  Sadly, the Phillies were in that position last night as Red Sox starter Jon Lester handed a 3-0 game over to their bullpen to seal the deal.  The Phillies, who put up 8 runs the previous night had only 8 baserunners on 7 hits and 1 walk.  4 batters combined for the 7 hits.

Jamie Moyer picked up the loss giving up 2 runs in 5 innings of work.  Lester shut down our prolific offense by hammering the strikezone.  Out of his 99 pitches, 68 were for strikes.  That’s when it is key to get the ball in play and hope to find holes.  The scariest thing about the Sox is that their starting rotation goes about 8 quality guys deep once they all return.  Or so it seems.
